Questions about Local AI PCs
- What is the difference between a chat AI PC and an image generation PC?
- Language workloads depend on model size, quantisation, context length and concurrency. Creative workloads depend on image or video models, resolution, duration and workflow. Both can use GPU memory heavily, but the same memory capacity does not make them equivalent. We provide separate build recommendations.
- How much GPU memory do I need for local AI?
- There is no single capacity that fits every model. Tell us the model and runtime, context or output settings and whether multiple tasks run together. Increasing language-model context can increase memory needs; the complete workload should be checked before choosing hardware.
- Can I run Ollama or ComfyUI on the same PC?
- A PC can be planned for both, subject to the exact GPU, operating system, models and software versions. Include both workflows in your request, including simultaneous use if needed. The quote is for hardware; application configuration, model installation and workflow setup are excluded.
- Does local AI work entirely offline?
- A locally run model can reduce reliance on remote inference, but downloads, updates, plug-ins or cloud features may still use the internet. Check the behaviour of each tool. We do not promise offline operation or privacy solely from the PC specification.
